Equinor takes up rig option at North Sea Sverdrup Phase 2

Equinor has exercised options with Odfjell Drilling for the Deepsea Atlantic semisubmersible to drill five further wells at the Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 development in the Norwegian North Sea.

BERGEN, Norway—Equinor has exercised options with Odfjell Drilling for the Deepsea Atlantic semisubmersibleto drill five further wells at the Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 development in the Norwegian North Sea.
These should take about 190 days in total to drill, extending the rig’s firm backlog into first-quarter 2024. The value to Odfjell is about $64 million.
In July 2020, Equinor and its partners booked the rig to drill 12 Phase 2 wells at an estimated cost of $150 million.
