ROTTERDAM, The Netherlands— Van Oord announced last week that the steel cutting ceremony for the new Boreas jackup vessel was performed at the Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Shipyard in China.
The Boreas can operate on methanol and will be capable of transporting and installing the next generation of 25-MW wind turbines.
This vessel is expected to enter the market in 2024.
"Van Oord has ordered this new offshore installation vessel to further strengthen its market position in offshore wind," the company stated.
