LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands  Fugro has contracted Kooiman Engineering and Van Oossanen Naval Architects for the naval design of Blue Prism, a new range of uncrewed surface vessels.

Blue Prism, engineered for operations in coastal and offshore environments and due to be available from next year, will combine a low-carbon footprint with data collection, weather resilience and endurance characteristics.

The vessel will acquire bathymetry and sub-bottom data via hull-mounted sensors, with the capability to also tow multiple geophysical sensors and to undertake beyond line-of-sight operations.

This will be the first low-carbon autonomous vessel to combine these advanced vessel characteristics and sensors, Fugro claimed. And the speed/endurance characteristics, combined with smart data management software, should reduce risk and speed up project delivery in sectors including offshore wind, the company added.
