RIO DE JANEIRO – The FPSO Guanabara has arrived at the Mero field in the Libra block in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil, according to Petrobras.
The vessel will be installed more than 150 km (93 mi) offshore and in about 1,930 m (6,332 ft) of water. Production is expected to start in the first half of the year.
The 332-m (1,089-ft) long FPSO Guanabara has a processing capacity of 180,000 b/d of oil and 12 MMcm/d of gas.
MODEC is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, mobilization, installation, and operation of the FPSO. It was converted and integrated at the DSIC shipyard in Dalian, China. Commissioning activities were carried out at Drydocks World in Dubai.
This is the first of four definitive FPSOs set to operate at Mero, the third largest presalt field (behind Búzios and Tupi).
The Libra Consortium is operated by Petrobras (40%), in partnership with Shell Brasil (20%), TotalEnergies (20%), CNPC (10%) and CNOOC Ltd. (10%), with Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. as its manager.
