Keppel wins construction work for two floaters

SINGAPOREKeppel Shipyard will undertake conversion of an LNG carrier to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for an LNG shipping services provider.

Works are due to start shortly with the full notice to proceed for the remainder of the activity anticipated early next year, following a final investment decision on the project.

In addition, BW Offshore has issued a letter of award to the company for integration work on a newbuild FPSO. Formal contract signing should follow by early 2022.

Keppel Shipyard will perform integration of around 35,000 tons of topsides modules and a turret, with options to fabricate other structures such as a flare tower.

Total value of the two projects could reach S$200 million ($146 million).

Keppel FELS has won a $80.4-million order from a renewable energy company to construct two offshore substations (OSS) for integration into an offshore wind farm.

Responsibilities include engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning for the topsides modules, while the client will supply the OSS foundations and certain electrical components.

Work is due to be completed in 2024.
