Keppel Shipyard is converting an LNG carrier to a floating storage and regasification unit, which will operate for the Port of Acajutla, El Salvador.

SINGAPOREKeppel Shipyard is converting an LNG carrier to a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which will operate for the Port of Acajutla, El Salvador.

This will be the country’s first LNG-to-power project. The client is FSRU Development Pte, a joint venture between BW Gas Ltd. and Invenergy Investment Co.

Keppel O&M claims to have converted the world’s first FSRU in 2008, and has worked with the BW Group on more than 10 projects to date including FPSO and FSRU conversions.
