STAVANGER, Norway – Prosafe has agreed with Shell U.K. to defer and amend the contract for the semisubmersible Safe Zephyrus.
The rig was due to provide accommodation services in support of the Shearwater platform turnaround in the UK central North Sea, which was postponed due to unfavorable global developments earlier this year.
The revised firm duration of the contract, 115 days, starts in March 2021 although Shell has the option to add 30 or 45 days to the front end, so commencement could be earlier.
Shell also retains the option to extend the contract after the firm duration by up to 30 days. It will compensate Prosafe via a fee considering the 10-month mobilization deferment. In addition, both companies agreed to work closely for programs in 2022 and 2023.
