COVENTRY, UK – MODEC has contracted Meggitt PLC to provide printed circuit heat exchangers (PCHE) for Equinor’s Bacalhau field FPSO in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.
The company’s Heatric organization will manage the order.
According to Meggitt, the PCHE technology delivers improved performance in gas compression and gas injection processes, with a lower size and weight compared with other heat exchanger solutions.
Bacalhau, the company added, would be the largest floater delivered to Brazil to date with a topsides designed to produce up to 220,000 b/d of crude oil and operating in a water depth of close to 2,050 m (6,726 ft), with attendant design pressures factored into the PCHEs.
