OSLO, Norway – TGS and SaaS specialist 3E have formed a collaboration to integrate Virtual Met Mast (VMM) time-series data into the Wind AXIOM web-based analytics platform for wind farm developers.

VMM is a meteorological mast claimed to accurately predict wind resources at any location based on long-term data from wind and meteorological parameters, over a period of up to 30 years.

According to TGS, it can support turbine suitability assessments, extreme wind analysis, long-term extrapolation with observation data, and load modeling using wind speed, direction, shear, veer, turbulence intensity and stability data.

Recently VMM was used to assess wind resources in the offshore wind lease area of Sorlige Nordsjo II (2x1.5GW) in the Norwegian North Sea.

Wind AXIOM, introduced last year, can help wind developers explore promising areas, prepare bids and develop leases. The servicer is said to provide fast access to large volumes of data and analytical tools.

Under the collaboration, users will be able to instantly compare VMM's high-resolution outputs with Wind AXIOM's Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) model outputs and observation data, TGS said.
