LEIDSCHENDAM, the Netherlands  Fugro has completed a geotechnical site investigation for SSE Renewables’ Arklow Bank Wind Park Phase 2 wind park, 6 km to 13 km offshore Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

The area is said to have unpredictable metocean conditions.

Fugro developed a casing system for the offshore site conditions to allow survey work to be completed with minimal downtime. The geodata will support understanding of the site’s subsurface conditions and the foundation designs and installation.

In addition, the company engineered conductor casing handling devices to remove the need for manual intervention, also ensuring deployment within the short slack water windows.

At present, laboratory testing is in progress.

The 800-MW wind park should provide power to almost 850,000 homes.

DEME’s Neptune DP2 offshore installation vessel successfully performed an offshore ground investigation campaign for Arklow Bank Wind Park Phase 2.
