PKN ORLEN and KN collaborate on Baltic Sea offshore wind

KN and PKN ORLEN signed a letter of intent on the possibility of cooperation in the operating and maintenance services for wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

KLAIPEDALithuania  Operator of oil and LNG terminals KN (Klaipėdos nafta) and orlen Neptun I and Energa Wytwarzanie, both companies of the largest Polish oil company PKN ORLEN, have signed a letter of intent on the possibility of cooperating in the provision of operating and maintenance services for wind farms in the Baltic Sea in Lithuania.

The letter of intent records an agreement on the conditions of synergy and cooperation between all three countries in the preparation and implementation of the strategy for the operation and maintenance services of wind farms in the Baltic Sea in Lithuania.

Initially, the strategy for the operation and maintenance of wind farms in the Baltic Sea is envisaged for the possibility of operating two wind farms in the Baltic Sea in Lithuania, and in case of success, the cooperation would expand and include more projects. The strategy is scheduled to be ready by mid-2023.

Offshore wind energy is one of the key areas of the ORLEN Group's 2030 strategy, with a budget of EUR 47 billion. zlotys investment is developing low-carbon and non-carbon activities. Through orlen Neptun I, a company responsible for the development of offshore wind farms throughout the group, ORLEN assumes the leading role of wind farms in the Baltic Sea.

KN has been looking for partners in the field of wind energy for some time, and cooperation with the companies of the ORLEN concern has developed naturally, since the concern is a long-term partner of the company in other important areas of KN's business. With this agreement, the strategic partnership between KN and ORLEN expands into new operational horizons.
