NEW ORLEANS – Offshore oil and gas operators are resuming operations on platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Laura.

According to the Bureau of Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), personnel remain evacuated from 117 production platforms and two non-dynamically positioned rigs.

All dynamically positioned rigs have returned to their working locations.

From operator reports, BSEE estimates that about 53.48% of the current oil and 41.29% of the natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico remain shut-in. This equates 989,414 b/d of oil and 1,119 MMcf/d of gas.
