OSLO, Norway — Havtil (the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority) is investigating a fire in a tank on the Equinor-operated Statfjord A platform in the North Sea.
The incident occurred last week during work on the first-stage separator tank, which was empty and prepared for interior cleaning.
A person entering the tank discovered smoke, leading to a general alarm being sounded, with two individuals understood to have been exposed to smoke.
The police are investigating and have asked Havtil to provide assistance.
