EU funding carbon capture calibration test site in Scotland

TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory has secured funding from the EU’s Horizon Europe program to construct a national standard liquid/dense phase CO2 calibration facility in central Scotland.

CCUS is an important emissions reduction technology designed to capture CO2 from fuel combustion, its transportation, and either its reuse or permanent storage deep underground.

EAST KILBRIDE, UK — TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory has secured funding from the EU’s Horizon Europe program to construct a national standard liquid/dense phase CO₂ calibration facility in central Scotland.

This will be designed to provide accurate calibration to traceable national standards for flow measurement and sampling meters using CO₂-rich mixtures and accurate fiscal flow measurement across the CCUS chain.

The new facility is part of the EU’s ENCASE project comprising 20 partners across Europe and coordinated by the Institute for Energy Technology in Norway.
