BlueNord considers North Sea Elly-Luke gas development
Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway – Noreco, soon to be renamed BlueNord, has applied for a license for acreage containing the gas discovery Elly-Luke in the Danish North Sea.
The company plans to participate in the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities’ forthcoming mini-licensing round.
If successful in its application, the license could be awarded in late 2023. BlueNord would then undertake a preliminary technical review of Elly-Luke prior to any longer-term commitment, but it sees potential for a development to provide about 5 Bcm of gas to markets in Denmark and Europe.
This would be the company’s first independent steps on the Danish continental shelf outside its ownership in the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC), led by TotalEnergies. The DUC’s main current project is the Tyra Field redevelopment, due to be completed by year-end 2023.
In addition, BlueNord has formed a strategic partnership with Semco Maritime to jointly explore and investigate other oil and gas opportunities. Semco Maritime is an engineering and contracting company with more than 40 years of experience in the offshore industry and more than 1,000 dedicated staff in offshore operations support in Denmark, Norway, and the UK.
The duo could potentially pursue taking on operation of existing assets, developing and operating new fields, and making investments in or taking on other related activities.
Semco Maritime would be responsible for the daily operation of topside facilities and tasks associated with production optimization, maintenance and integrity planning, modifications, procurement, logistics and warehousing, and emergency response.
