ABERDEEN, UK — Repsol Sinopec has contracted Liberty Industrial to perform decontamination, demolition and site remediation of the Nigg Oil Terminal in northeast Scotland.

Decommissioning activity will start this year and should continue through 2025. At the end of 2025, the site will be handed back to leaseholder Global Energy Group.

British National Oil Corp commissioned the terminal in 1981 as part of the Beatrice field development in the Outer Moray Firth in the UK central North Sea.

The 75-acre site features a large-scale crude oil process, storage and export facility that will require decontamination prior to demolition and site remediation.

Repsol Sinopec project and site teams will work with Liberty to identify all hazards and enact safe decommissioning procedures.
