LONDON  Serica Energy’s first light well intervention vessel campaign has finished at the Bruce Field in the UK northern North Sea.

It was part of a program to extend the life of the Bruce facilities.

To start with, the Bruce M1 well was reentered for the first time since 1998, when it was operated by bp.

Following a scale removal and water shutoff, a re-perforation/new perforation took place to restore production. Rates have since increased from about 400 boe/d prior to intervention to more than 1,800 boe/d.

A similar operation on the second well (Bruce M4) have raised production rates from the previous 450 boe/d to more than 2,400 boe/d.

Both results were at the upper end of the range of expectations, with Serica anticipating a boost to its independently assessed reserves for the field. The company now plans similar interventions on other Bruce and Keith wells, both subsea and from the Bruce platform.

Earlier this month, the Serica-operated Columbus gas/condensate field in the central UK North Sea completed 1 MMboe of production, all exported to Shell’s Shearwater complex.

However, rates have been below expectations.
