PERTH, AustraliaFinder Energy has acquired operated stakes in two UK North Sea licenses from Azinor Catalyst.

P2502 is on the western edge of the East Shetland basin in the UK northern North Sea, 85 km (53 mi) northeast of the Shetland Islands.

The 424-sq km (164-sq mi) concession has potential in the Upper Jurassic turbidite play with more than 1.2 Bboe of possible resources identified across 11 mapped leads. Finder has a 100% interest.

P2524, on the southern flank of the South Viking Graben in the UK central North Sea, covers an area of 171 sq km (66 sq mi): Finder has a 40% interest, the remainder held by Harbour Energy.

Barracuda is the lead prospect, with potential in the same Upper Jurassic reservoir that hosts the nearby T-Block and Brae oil fields. There are three other prospects and leads, and two small oil and condensate discoveries.

CEO Damon Neaves said: “These two acquisitions build on Finder’s recently announced entry into the North Sea through the 32nd UK Offshore Licensing Round and are in line with our strategy to secure high-quality exploration acreage close to discoveries and infrastructure.

“We expect to announce further North Sea acquisitions as well as new partnerships in the near future.”

Nick Terrell and Henry Morris, former Azinor co-founders and directors, will join the company’s UK North Sea team.
