ATHENS, Greece — Energean has received official recognition of its 68-Bcm Katlan (ex-Olympus area) gas discovery in license 12 offshore Israel from Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, MK Israel Katz.
The announcement allows the company to submit an application for a deed of possession and a development plan, and (assuming government approval) start work on the development.
Katlan is the Hebrew word for the Orca whale. Energean’s producing Karish gas field, also in the Mediterranean Sea, is the Hebrew name for shark, while its undeveloped Tanin Field translates as alligator.
