TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian Offshore Oil Co. (IOOC) has brought in a drilling rig alongside the DP-R platform offshore Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf, according to news service Shana.
Pouya Ma’arefi, who is the director of Resalat oilfield development project, said the drilling rig was installed adjacent to DP-R1 platform.
The company’s planned first-stage of development and maintenance project is designed to raise crude oil production from the field by 11,000 bbl, according to director Pouya Ma’arefi, the program involves adding a new wellhead platform, cabling, pipelaying, repairs and upgrades to the R1 platform, drilling of four new wells, and two re-drilling operations.
So far two new wells and one re-drill have been completed.
Construction started in March on the legs for the new wellhead platform in Khorramshahr, southwestern Iran.
