CAIRO, Egypt – Representatives from Eni and EGAS have signed a framework agreement to maximize gas production in Egypt and LNG exports.
The aim is to promote Egyptian gas export to Europe, and in particular to Italy.
The two parties agreed to step up their jointly operated gas activities and assess opportunities for increasing short-term gas production.
In addition, Eni will focus on exploration on its existing blocks and in newly acquired acreage in the Nile Delta, Eastern Mediterranean and Western Desert regions.
This arrangement, and the re-start of the Damietta liquefaction plant last year, should boost Eni’s LNG cargoes to Europe/Italy by up to 3 bcm this year.
