HOUSTON – Petrobras has committed to spend $16 billion on its renovation plan for the Campos basin offshore Brazil.
This includes the installation of three new platforms over the next five years.
Executive Manager of Strategy, Eduardo Bordieri, said the basin accounted for around 25% of the company’s total production last year. It is targeting 900,000 boe/d by 2026.
The FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Neri will be installed on the Marlim field, together roducing up to 150,000 b/d. The third planned FPSO is the Maria Quitéria, at the Jubarte field in the Parque das Baleias complex, with capacity for 100,000 bpd.
Under its Strategic Plan 2022-2026, Petrobras aims to add 20 Bboe to its reserves by 2030, of which 5 BBoe will come from operated assets in the Campos basin.
Another development is ‘all-electric’ platforms’, designed to consume less fuel for power generation. The design is said to cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 20% compared to a traditional platform.
Last year Petrobras reinjected 8.7 MM t of CO2 into its pre-salt fields off Brazil.
At the panel discussion "Accelerating the Energy Transition: Highlighting Developments in Brazil and Argentina," an official from the company highlighted development of new CO2 capture solutions and the HISEP technology, which separates CO2-rich gas from oil produced from the reservoir for partial re-injection through equipment installed on the seabed.
This avoids having to process the gas on the platform, reducing CO2 emissions, the Petrobras official said.
