TOKYO – MODEC has started up operations for the FPSO MIAMTE MV34, commissioned by Eni for the Offshore Area 1 block development in the Bay of Campeche offshore Mexico.

The charter contract runs initially for 15 years, with options thereafter for annual extensions for up to five additional years.

The vessel, moored in 32 m (105 ft) of water, 10 km (6.2 mi) offshore, has capacity to handle 90,000 b/d of oil, 75 MMf/d of gas and 120,000 b/d of water injection, with an oil storage capacity of 700,000 bbl.

SOFEC developed the disconnectable tower yoke mooring system to moor the vessel in shallow water, and to disconnect to depart the area to avoid winter storms and hurricanes in the area. The mooring jacket was fabricated in Altamira, Mexico.

This is MODEC’s second operations and maintenance project offshore Mexico, following the FSO Ta'Kuntah.
