PERTH, Australia – BHP is assessing development possibilities for the Calypso field offshore Trinidad and Tobago, following two successful appraisal wells late last year.
All the wells in the drilling program encountered hydrocarbons, with Bongos-3 confirming volumes downdip of prior penetrations and Bongos-4 proving volumes in a new segment.
In the central US Gulf of Mexico, drilling operations continue on the Wasabi-2 (GC124-002) well, which spudded in mid-November 2021.
Later this year BHP expects to take delivery of processed data from last November’s 3D seismic survey over the Bimshire and Carlisle Bay blocks offshore Barbados.
In December, Egypt’s Minister of Energy in Egypt signed the Deed of Assignment for Red Sea Block 1, completing the transfer of a 45% interest from Chevron to BHP. It follows a separate agreement with Shell last March giving BHP 30% and 25% shares of Egypt’s Red Sea blocks 3 and 4, with the effective date of participation still awaiting final government approvals.
