RIO DE JANEIRO – CNOOC has expressed interest in taking up an option to acquire an additional 5% in the production-sharing contract of the Transfer of Rights Surplus, covering the Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin.
Operator Petrobras, which is still waiting to hear from the other partner CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás on its intentions, expects to receive $2.08 billion from the transaction, pending official clearance.
In the offshore Camamu basin in the state of Bahia, gas production was halted yesterday at the Manati field after a leak was discovered in the onshore portion of the export pipeline.
The causes are under investigation: Petrobras expects service to resume by the end of this week.
Manati’s wells are connected by subsea pipelines to the PMNT-1 production platform, 10 km (6.2 mi) offshore in 35 m (115 ft) water depth.
Gas is sent through a 36-km (22-mi) pipeline to the compression plant, and then a further 89 km (55 mi) to the processing plant.
Petrobras operates in partnership with Enauta Energia, GeoPark and Petro Rio Coral. Manati produces around 3.1 MMcm/d of gas.
