ADELAIDE, Australia — The Full Federal Court in Australia has dismissed an appeal against Justice Bromberg’s decision in September to set aside NOPSEMA’s approval of the Barossa Gas Project’s drilling environment plan.
Santos operates the field development in the Timor Sea off northwest Australia.
The company said it had consulted with Traditional Owners and their representatives on the impact of the project since 2016 and would continue to do so, taking into account guidance provided by the court.
Santos added that it had always sought to meet its consultation responsibilities and was continuing the process of revising the drilling environment plan to address the matters in the judgement.
The company now plans to proceed with applications for all remaining approvals, in accordance with guidance provided by the court.
Santos does not anticipate any material cost or schedule impact, and it expects to deliver first gas from Barossa as scheduled in the first half of 2025.
