ADELAIDE, Australia  Santos has issued updates on its field development programs offshore Western and northwest Australia in its latest results statement.

The Spartan project, which will develop additional reserves to be processed through Varanus Island, should come onstream in early 2023.

FEED for the Dorado oil development is nearing completion as Santos works toward final investment decision (FID) readiness later this year.

The initial phase of development will involve gas reinjection to maximize liquids recovery ahead of a second phase of gas export, providing backfill supply to the company’s domestic gas infrastructure in Western Australia.

At the Bayu-Undan Field in the Timor Sea, gas and liquids production was lower due mainly to natural decline. Production should cease in late 2022.

In the same region, construction of facilities for the Barossa gas and condensate project to backfill Darwin LNG is now 40% complete, with first production targeted for the first half of 2025.

Procurement of FPSO equipment, and fabrication of the FPSO hull and topsides in South Korea and Singapore, are progressing, as is manufacture of subsea hardware in Europe and Asia.

The drilling rig was due to start operations for the wells in late July while pipeline installation should begin early in 2023.

As for the Darwin LNG life extension project, critical pre-shutdown transition works have finished, and project engineering and procurement are underway.
