The Gulf of Thailand acquisition provided a new operating and management team for Valeura in Thailand.
CALGARY, Canada—Valeura Energy has entered a definitive agreement with PT Samudra Alam Transport to charter a crude oil tanker to store production from the Wassana oil field development in the Gulf of Thailand.
The Panamax tanker, MT Vula, with a storage capacity of 460,000 bbl, will likely be renamed MT Jaka Tarub.
Following an imminent program of cleaning and modification work, it will be made compatible with the Wassana Field’s mooring and crude oil offloading systems.
It should then arrive at the field in early January. Valeura will then seek to resume production operations as soon as practicable.
