LONDONGlobalData expects 36 upstream projects to start operations in Indonesia between 2021 and 2025, with natural gas developments accounting for around two-thirds.

One of the projects could be Mako, a shallow-water conventional gas field operated by West Natuna Exploration in the West Natuna basin. This is currently in the approval stage but expected to start operations by 2023.

The consultant also highlighted BP Berau’s new Tangguh Train 3 as a key LNG project adding 3.8 MMt/yr to the existing Tangguh complex. All gas is supplied from offshore production complexes.
