LONDON – Chrysaor won operatorship of six licenses under the UK’s recent 30th offshore licensing round, covering 11 blocks and part-blocks.
Phil Kirk, the company’s chief executive, said: “These awards represent a boost to our existing portfolio and we look forward to maturing the acreage and its prospectivity…
“Subject to consents and well planning, we will drill the first well on the acreage in 2019.”
Earlier this spring, Chrysaor announced it had contracted the ultra-harsh environment jackupRowan Gorilla VII to work on its UK fields for a period of up to 18 months, extendable by a further two years.
The first well, a side track at theMaria field in the UK central North Sea, was due to spud early this month.
In addition, Chrysaor entered a three-year service partnership arrangement with Baker Hughes, a GE company. This covers drilling, completion, and subsea tie-in of development wells, with BHGE supplying the necessary equipment.
