BERLIN, Germany – Wintershall CEO Mario Mehren outlined the company’s growth plans offshore Norway during a visit to Berlin by Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
The company, which will merge its operations with DEA to formWintershall DEA, expects to increase its production globally from around 575,000 boe/d at present to 800,000 boe/d over the next three to five years, with Norwegian fields accounting for one-quarter of that figure.
Mehren estimated recoverable reserves fromWintershall’s Nova field development in the North Sea at around 80 MMboe and DEA’s Dvalin project in the Norwegian Sea should recover 115 MMboe.
Nova will produce mainly crude oil and DEA mainly gas.
“Norway offers a stable regulatory framework and is an ideal environment for gas and oil industry investments in the search for new discoveries,” Mehren said.
