DOUGLAS, Isle of Man – The government of the Isle of Man off northwest England has appointed local E&P company Crogga to appraise and produce gas resources in waters offshore Maughold Head on the island’s east coast.
Crogga will reportedly operate a 266-sq km (103-sq mi) license in block 112/25 over an area previously explored by BP in the 1980s and 90s. This led to identification of a gas field in 1982.
The Isle of Man does not have its own energy supply and is dependent on imported gas both for electricity generation and other purposes.
According to Isle of Man News, Crogga has been founded by a team of local professionals, with a wide range of experience in the financial, oil and gas and other sectors, with access to funding that will ensure no direct cost to the Manx government.
Crogga will reportedly acquire and process a 3D seismic survey over the field in the next few months to map and appraise the reserves.
If this indicates commercial accumulations, the company would perform appraisal drilling.
