LONDON – Genel Energy has reached agreement with the Moroccan government on the type, scope, and timing of activity for the company’s remaining exploration commitment on the offshore Sidi Moussa license.
Instead of drilling a well, as previously agreed, Genel will commission a 3D seismic survey across the acreage to de-risk prospectivity.
Planning for this has started and the campaign should get under way in 2018. The government has extended the license’s current phase through February 2020.
TheSM-1 well, drilled in 4Q 2014, encountered a working hydrocarbon system, recovering 26° API oil to surface.
