TOKYO – INPEX Browse E&P has secured an exploration permit for block WA-532-P offshore Western Australia, under Australia’s 2016 Offshore Petroleum Exploration Acreage Release.
The company will have a 100% operating interest in the block, which spans an area of 26,300 sq km (10,154 sq mi) in water depths of 60-250 m (197-820 ft). It sees the area as prospective for gas, condensate, and oil accumulations.
Nearby is the INPEX-operated Ichthys gas/condensate field and associatedIchthys LNG project.
Other gas discoveries in the area are under development on multiple blocks in which INPEX also holds equity interests.
