(Trinidad&Tobago)- TheOilbird offshore platform will begin producing natural gas some 48 km off the southeast coast of Trinidad by the end of July.
The structure is a conventional drilling and processing steel platform consisting of six deck legs, and three levels totaling 28,000 sq ft of floor space. Total weight of the platform and on-deck processing equipment is 2,900 tons, which is believed to be twice as heavy as any platform previously built in Trinidad.
The platform was built by Trinidad Offshore Fabrication Co., a joint venture between local construction company Weldfab and Louisiana-based Chef Morrison.
The platform is owned by US oil company EOG Resources. State oil company Petrotrin and state gas company NGC both have interests in the investment.
