PERTH, Australia –Woodside Energy plans to start drilling theJujak-1 exploration well offshore South Korea before mid-year.
Offshore northwest Australia, the company continues its pursuit of fresh gas for the onshorePluto LNG complex.
Its current focus is on the Ragnar Hub, southwest of the Pluto field. Recently, the Ragnar-1 well (WA-430-P) intersected gas over a gross interval of 190 m (623 ft), and the Vucko-1 (WA-433-P) well should start drilling soon.
Thereafter, Woodside plans to drill Banambu Deep-1 and Ananke-1 in the offshore WA-389-P and WA-269-P permits, both northeast of the Pluto field.
Discussions continue with other resource owners in the region concerning the addition of further LNG trains at Pluto.
In the Laverda field offshore area, the Norton-1 well encountered oil and gas and confirmed the easterly extension of the oil-bearing sands discovered by Laverda North-2. Early interpretation suggests potential recoverable resources for the Laverda oil pools of more than 100 MMboe.
Work on theNorth West Shelf North Rankin redevelopment project is progressing. Piling of the North Rankin B (NRB) jacket was completed in February along with installation of the two 100-m (328 ft) bridges connecting the North Rankin A and B platforms.
The NRB topsides sailed from South Korea and arrived on location in late March, and were set down on the jacket on April 1. Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said: “The float over of the NRB topsides is one of the world’s largest heavy-lifts in open water and a great technical success for Woodside.”
The project remains on budget and on schedule for completion in 2013.
Just before end-March, the Okha gas system started up for the North West Shelf oil project. The gas compression system enables gas export and gas-lift, which should assist oil production rates.
As for the Greater Western Flank Phase 1 project,Woodside has commissioned the Ocean America rig for drilling of the Goodwyn GH and Tidepole wells later this year. Engineering and fabrication of subsea hardware has started, and the project should be completed in early 2016.
This year in the Greater Enfield area, the Vincent field VNB-H7 infill well has been drilled and completed, and should be tied back to the FPSO during the current quarter, providing potentially 8,000 b/d of oil.
Pre-development studies continued for the Cimatti oil accumulation.
