TOKYO –INPEX Corp.’s affiliate, INPEX Masela Ltd. received an environmental permit from the government of Indonesia based on a submitted environmental and social impact assessment of the Abadi LNG project.
The Abadi LNG project, currently under development, was discovered in 2000. The field was appraised by six wells, two in 2002 and four in 2007 - 2008, all of which confirmed the presence of gas and condensate.
In 2010, the Indonesian government approved the plan of development for Stage-I of the project for a floating LNG with a capacity of 2.5 million tons/year of LNG in December 2010. INPEX is currently conductingfront-end engineering design work, and studying possibilities for further development to exploit its reserves.
