SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has awarded Eni and partners Pertamina and Neptune Energy the West Ganal exploration block in the offshore Kutei basin.
The concession, issued under Indonesia’s second conventional oil and gas bidding round 2019, is a new gross split production-sharing contract covering 1,129 sq km (436 sq mi), adjacent to the Eni-operated Muara Bakau and East Sepinggan PSCs in the Makassar Strait off East Kalimantan.
Eni and its partners were already co-operating in the producing Jangkrik field in the Muara Bakau block.
West Ganal includes the Maha discovery with in place gas of more than 600 bcf and further exploration potential.
This will be developed as a tie-in to facilities serving Jangkrik.
