LUANDA, Angola  The foundation stone has been laid, as of Oct. 4, for the New Gas Consortium’s (NGC) operations facilities in Soyo, Zaire province.

Azule Energy operates the NGC, which took FID in July 2022 on a project to develop gas from the shallow-water Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields via two offshore platforms, an onshore gas processing plant and a connection to the Angola LNG plant.

The targeted production rate is 4 Bcm/year.

The partners, which include CABGOC, Sonangol P&P and TotalEnergies, will set aside $1 billion of the project costs for local investments through the contracting of services and materials.
