CNOOC has brought onstream two field developments offshore China.
The Caofeidian 6-4 Oilfield Comprehensive Adjustment Project is in the western part of the Bohai Sea in eastern China, in water depths of about 20 m.
A new production wellhead platform, connected to existing infrastructure in the area, will eventually house 22 production wells and three water injectors, with peak light oil and gas production of about 11,000 boe/d expected in 2026.
The Wenchang 19-1 Oilfield Phase II Project is in the western part of the Pearl River Mouth basin in 125 m water depths. Here, a new drilling and production platform will eventually have 13 wells, delivering peak production of 12,000 boe/d of medium crude and gas in 2027.
For both projects, CNOOC deployed its “intelligent offshore oil and gas fields” design concept, notably in the technologies supporting crude oil production, equipment maintenance and safety management.
At Caofeidian 6-4, all associated gas is reinjected into the reservoir using gas injection compressors, reducing CO2 emissions by about 13,000 tons annually.
Wenchang 19-1’s megawatt-level high-temperature flue gas ORC power generation unit should deliver up to 24 MM kWhr of electricity, cutting CO2 emissions by roughly 23,000 t/year.
