Trillion Energy plans to ramp up the installation of velocity strings in wells at the SASB gas field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea to improve the field’s long-term gas production.
Recently, after concluding a technical agreement with its partner at SASB, Trillion assumed operatorship for the program. It has since signed a service agreement with snubbing specialist SnubCo to facilitate installation of the velocity strings.
Mobilization is underway of the snubbing unit from Romania. Trillion is looking to raise and stabilize production rates in existing wells through reduced water loading.
At present, the Akçakoca-3 and South Akçakoca-2 wells are averaging 2.55 MMcf/d and 2.3 MMcf/d, respectively. Although the two long-reach directionally drilled wells, Guluc-2 and West Akçakoca-1, have delivered intermittent production due to water loading, Guluc-2 has still averaged 1.7 MMcf/d over the last two months.
According to Trillion CEO Arthur Halleran, the initial assumption was that the velocity strings could only be run in using a drilling rig. “However, we have now convinced all a snubbing unit can accomplish this activity," he said. "This has been a giant step forward.”
