Jadestone Energy’s inspection and repair work on the Montara Venture FPSO tanks are progressing well, the company said in a trading update.
The vessel, stationed over the Montara oil field offshore northwest Australia, currently has two main central oil storage tanks in service with a capacity of 187,000 bbl.
Recent examinations of two further central oil storage tanks and their associated water ballast tanks found they were in a better condition than expected. This increases the likelihood that more oil storage capacity will become available later in the year.
Montara operations have been able to continue without a shuttle tanker for offloads for most of July, and the shuttle tanker operation should be phased out during the fourth quarter.
The H6 and Swift-2 wells should be restored to service shortly after completion of the current repairs, raising overall production to 5,000 to 6,000 bbl/d.
According to Jadestone’s press release, published earlier this week, “Uptime and performance at Montara continued to improve in the first half of 2024.”
At the nearby offshore Stag Field, however, performance issues with downhole pumps have meant more frequent workovers than planned.
