BW Energy says the DHBSM-2P pilot well in the Dussafu permit offshore Gabon has confirmed a northern extension of the Hibiscus South discovery, lifting the recoverable oil estimate to 5 MMbbl to 6 MMbbl.
OSLO, Norway — BW Energy says the DHBSM-2P pilot well in the Dussafu permit offshore Gabon has confirmed a northern extension of the Hibiscus South discovery, lifting the recoverable oil estimate to 5 MMbbl to 6 MMbbl.
The company plans to complete the well as a producer later this year.
The jackup Borr Norve drilled the pilot from the MaBoMo production platform to an area 3.2 km to the northwest and to a TD of 5,130 m.
Logging data, sample analysis and formation pressure measurements confirmed about 25 m of pay in a 35-m overall hydrocarbon column in the Gamba Formation.
Data also confirmed the Hibiscus South structure is a separate accumulation with a deeper oil-water contact than the nearby Hibiscus Field.
This will enable the company to book additional reserves not currently included in its annual statement of reserves and provide the opportunity to drill one or more additional production wells from the MaBoMo facility.
BW Energy CEO Carl K. Arnet said the well underlined “the significant potential of the Dussafu license, which holds multiple additional prospects."
