PTTEP continues to drill new wells to increase gas production from the Arthit field in the Gulf of Thailand, the company said in its first-quarter results update.
It is currently negotiating an amendment to the gas sales agreement to raise contracted volumes from 280 MMcf/d to 330 MMcf/d.
At the same offshore production complex, the FEED has finished for a carbon capture and storage project. PTTEP is aiming to take FID later this year.
The company is also preparing to acquire seismic to assess the CO2 storage potential in the upper Gulf of Thailand (Eastern Thailand CCS Hub project).
Elsewhere in the Gulf, new technology for produced water treatment is undergoing testing at a production site in North Bongkot.
Another new development, the Intelligent Sampling Pig (MERIns), which is used for collecting surface samples from pipelines, is being deployed for decommissioning of subsea pipelines. PTTEP is working on adapting the tool for application on various pipeline sizes throughout its offshore production sites.
Lastly, construction has finished of a testing facility for developing production well P&A methods using thermite reactions at PTTEP’s Rapid Scaled-up Center in Rayong. Prototype testing is scheduled for later in the year, followed by pilot testing at certain production locations.
