BANGKOK, Thailand – PTTEP has submitted bids for the prolific Bongkot and Erawan fields in the Gulf of Thailand, which the Thai government plans to re-license under long-term concession agreements.
CEO Somporn Vongvuthipornchai said the company was bidding on a sole basis for Bongkot, and in partnership with Mubadala Petroleum (Thailand) for Erawan (Mubadala is the present operator).
“Our expertise and experiences in the exploration, development and production for 25 years in the Bongkot field have positioned us as a prudent operator,” Somporn said.
“We will ensure continuity in natural gas supply with competitive costs, resulting in maximizing benefits to the country and creating energy security in the long term.
Combined output from the two fields accounts for 60% of Thailand’s total gas production.
