HOUSTON -- ATP says construction of the Octabuoy hull for the Cheviot field development in the UK North Sea is nearing 80% completion.
The company is in discussions with the construction contractor to also build the topsides via a similar construction and finance arrangement. Cheviot is ATP’s largest UK project to date in terms of reserves. In the southern UK gas basin, the company operates the Tors Hub, comprising the Kilmar and Garrow fields, with a 17% interest. In May ATP drilled and tested a step-out appraisal well on Kilmar, and has since completed a side track into a separate fault block.
The rig has since transferred to Garrow to drill the G2 development well, due on stream before year-end.
