Chevron turns on the taps at Tahiti field

Production has begun from the Tahiti field in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Chevron.

PARIS -- Production has begun from the Tahiti field in the Gulf of Mexico, according to Chevron. Production is expected to reach a plateau of approximately 125,000 b/d of crude oil and 70 MMcf/d of natural gas before the end of the year, with peak production expected to reach 20,000 boe/d.

The first phase of the Chevron-operated development consists of six subsea wells connected to a spar floating production system.

Tahiti holds estimated proved and probable reserves of more than 400 MMboe.
