YUZHNO-SAKHALINSKI, Russia -- First oil has begun from the Piltun-Astokhskaya-B (PA-B) platform in the Piltun area of the Piltun-Astokhskoye field, according to Sakhalin Energy.
Oil has been produced by the Molikpaq platform in the Astokh area since 1999. Oil from both areas now flows into the 800-km (497-mi) TransSakhalin pipeline system to be delivered to the oil export terminal in the south of the Island as part of the pre-commissioning activities to test the capability of future operations, the company says.
