ABERDEEN, UK -- Production has begun from the Wissey gas field in block 53/4D in the UK Southern Gas basin, according to Faroe Petroleum.
Initial flow rates are approximately 70 MMscf/d, or 11,600 boe. The Wissey gas field consists of a single well subsea tieback to the Horne and Wren platform, via a newly laid 10-km (6.2-mi) pipeline. Gas is then transported to the Thames host facility for separation and compression and from there on to the Bacton Gas Terminal in the UK.
Faroe Petroleum's net reserves from the field are estimated to be 5.9 bcf of gas, with the potential for further upside, the company says.
