OSLO, Norway — BW Energy expects to complete its revised concept for the Maromba oil development in second-quarter 2024, the company said in a results statement.
Last month it paid the first $30 million for the FPSO Polvo, which will produce the oil, to be followed by the remaining $20 million next spring.
The company foresees peak production in the range 30,000 bbl/d to 40,000 bbl/d. In addition, it is progressing preparations for two planned infill wells on the Golfinho Field in the Espírito Santo Basin (GLF-51 oil well and GLF-50 gas well) that could double production in 2026.
Offshore Namibia, BW Energy work continues on a revised development plan for a gas-to-power project for the offshore Kudu Field, along with analysis of data from a 3D survey over the offshore area completed in May.
Initial results have enhanced the depositional model and de-risked potential targets with additional prospects identified. The company will now start ordering long-lead items for a future exploration program.
In the Dussafu Marin license offshore Gabon, the company will use the eighth (final) slot secured with Borr Drilling for the rig’s current campaign to drill the Bourdon prospect, 7 km southeast of the BW Mabomo production platform in 115 m water depth and 14 km west of the BW Adolo FPSO.
Bourdon is thought to hold mid-case potential of 83 MMbbl in place and 29 MMbbl recoverable in the Gamba and Dentale formations.
Timing of the well will depend on sequencing of the remaining production wells and the arrival of additional casing materials.
